U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have announced a large-scale solar project that will power 140,000 homes. Harris made the announcement on a visit to Dalton, Georgia’s Qcells plant, one of two sites where South Korean Hanwha Solutions Corp. is investing US$ 2.5 billion for solar panels. Savings on energy are expected to be 10% annually. Tax credits from The Inflation Reduction Act are being used to support the operation. Harris says she and Biden have strengthened the supply chain since taking office “to build a clean energy technology and economy.” Harris added that they have also spiked demand, and said, “When we talk about the relationship between supply and demand, it is real.”
Korea’s National Pension Service is the second largest shareholder in Hanwha Solutions, with 6,584,679 shares, or 8.78% of the company.
