Guggenheim’s Investment Chief Scott Minerd Dies at 63

Scott Minerd died December 21, 2022 after a heart attack during his regular weight-lifting workout at home. Scott Minerd was Guggenheim Partners’ chief investment officer who was regarded as one of the bond kings of the past decades. Scott Minerd was an avid weight lifter. Scott Minerd was born in 1959.

Mark Walter, CEO and a Founder of Guggenheim Partners said in a media release, “I have known Scott for over 30 years and we were partners much of that time. Scott was a key innovator and thought leader who was instrumental in building Guggenheim Investments into the global business it is today. He will be greatly missed by all. My deepest condolences are with his husband, family and loved ones.”

Scott Minerd joined Guggenheim as a Managing Partner shortly after the firm was formed.
