1. CHINA’s ZERO COVID-STANCE FACES PROTESTORS. Protestors remain angered by strict anti-virus measures and COVID restrictions. These protests swelled to at least eight major cities in China. Protestors vented against the strict lockdown rules. Chinese authorities have eased anti-virus rules in certain areas, but affirmed their severe “zero-COVID” strategy. The zero-COVID strategy has impacted businesses and the controls have confined millions of Chinese people to their homes. In some parts of China, some people have been confined to their homes for up to four months.

On November 28, 2022, the number of new daily reported cases rose to 40,347 in China, including 36,525 with no symptoms.

2. BIDEN REVERSES ON VENEZUELA.
The U.S. Treasury Department said it would allow, through a granted license, Chevron Corporation to resume pumping oil from Venezuela oil fields. Chevron is in a joint venture with Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). Other Venezuela-related sanctions and restrictions imposed by the United States remain in place.
