Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has been named prime minister. The 37-year-old is already widely seen as the day-to-day ruler. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has appointed his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to replace him as prime minister. The weekly session of the cabinet, in which the king attends, will be held under his chairmanship, another royal decree said.
“The crown prince’s appointment was made with giving an exemption to the provision of Article 56 of the Basic Law of Governance, and the relevant provisions contained in the Law of the Council of Ministers,” the Saudi Press Agency said.
