The People’s Bank of China (PBOC), the country’s central bank, said it would conduct a central bank bill swap on December 29, 2021. The bill swaps, with a three-month tenor, are worth 5 billion yuan, according to a statement on the central bank’s website. The operation aims to improve the liquidity of perpetual bonds and support banks’ issuance of the bonds to replenish capital, it added.
The PBOC will by the end of the month issue a first series of low-cost loans to financial institutions to enable carbon emissions cuts. Earlier, the PBOC pledged greater support for the real economy. PBOC said it will make monetary policy more forward-looking and targeted.
