The US$ 55 billion Virginia Retirement System (VRS) currently has a US$ 4.8 billion allocation towards real estate including infrastructure.
The VRS has committed US$ 75 million to a close-end fund managed by Grain Management LLC that will target wireless communication infrastructure. The private equity firm targets U.S. Federal and state government wireless systems including towers, spectrum and backhaul. The United States is one of only two OECD nations with five or more key mobile wireless carriers that compete in the wireless market.
What does spectrum mean in terms of the wireless industry?
Spectrum is simply defined as the radio frequencies that are designated for specific uses, such as personal communications services and public safety.
