Dismal U.S. Jobs Report Only Adds 194K Jobs in September 2021

Only 194,000 U.S. jobs were added to the payroll in September 2021, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The figure is falling far short of the 500,000 that were expected by leading economists. This is one of the most dismal outlooks from a U.S. jobs report all year. This is the second straight month in which jobs numbers have underperformed economists’ projections. The U.S. leisure and hospitality industry did experience a modest uptick in job growth in September 2021.
Monthly U.S. job growth this year has averaged 561,000.
Will the U.S. Federal Reserve stick to its tapering timeline?
