Japan Will Soon Have a New Prime Minister
Posted on 09/11/2021
Japan Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga (age 72) is due to step down on September 30, 2021 after taking office in September 16, 2020. Suga took over the PM job from Shinzo Abe. Suga reigns from the ruling Liberal Democratic party (LDP). The LDP returned to political power in 2012.
Suga witnessed a series of local election losses, a wave of COVID-19 cases (not just a Japan issue), and hosting the Olympics.
