Bill Gates Family Office Head Accused of Sexual Harassment in 2017

Michael Larson is in charge of managing Microsoft Corporation co-founder Bill Gates’ massive fortune for decades. Larson is the chief investment officer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Michael Larson is in charge of Cascade Investment and was reportedly accused of sexual harassment in 2017. The New York Times reported that the handling of the situation had put Bill and Melinda Gates at odds. The allegations were that Larson had been sexually harassing a woman who managed a bike shop. The shop was partially owned by Rally Capital, a firm that Cascade Investment had invested in. The New York Times reported that the woman who has harassed reached a settlement in 2018, signing a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) in exchange for a payment. NDAs were a source of argument during the MeToo era, which ended the careers of sexual predators like Harvey Weinstein.

Earlier in May, Bill and Melinda Gates announced that they were divorcing. Soon news came out that Bill Gates had spent more time with disgraced sex-offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Daily Beast blog reported that Epstein gave Bill Gates advice on ending his marriage with Melinda.
