Bpifrance and the AICHI Prefectural Government Sign MoU on Startup Cooperation

Aichi Prefecture is located in the heart of Japan and has a GDP of €310 billion as of 2018. Toyota is headquartered in this prefecture. Aichi Prefectural Government created the “Aichi-Startup Strategy” in October 2018 and along with this strategy, is trying to build a startup ecosystem and collaborates with overseas advanced startup support organizations.
Bpifrance and the AICHI Prefectural government in Japan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their economic cooperation and support the international development of their start-ups. The MoU was signed on February 2, 2021. This cooperation agreement signed by Pedro Novo, Bpifrance’s Executive Director in charge of Export, and Hideaki Ohmura, Governor of the Aichi Prefecture, demonstrates the willingness of both public institutions to combine the development of their start-ups ecosystems with their knowledge of industry and develop together export support and innovation activities.
The MoU exchange includes: start-up support, training and networking, connecting French and Japanese start-ups together in order to exchange best practices and potentially find business partners, and fostering common export and business support activities through financing.
