As the Biden-Harris inauguration approaches and the vaccine rollouts continue, Democrat Governors and Mayors who implored the efficacy of lockdowns are calling for the easing of COVID-19 lockdowns. For example, during a news conference on Thursday, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she plans to speak with Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker on ways to roll back COVID-19 restrictions on restaurant and bars to allow them to reopen “as quickly as possible.” As total COVID hospitalizations in New York reached 8,808, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo tweeted on January 11, 2021, “We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass. The cost is too high. We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely.”
