BYE HAVEN: Amazon, Berkshire, and JPMorgan Failed to Tackle US Healthcare in Venture

Posted on 01/04/2021

Boston-based Haven is the joint venture formed by Amazon.com, Inc., Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. in a bid to lower costs and improve outcomes in U.S. health care. The effort is now over. Haven is disbanding after three years. Haven has 57 employees, which will end up being placed in one of the three backers.

The minds and capital of Bezos, Buffett, and Dimon weren’t enough for Haven to succeed in the complex world of U.S. healthcare.

In May 2020, Atul Gawande stepped down from Haven as CEO. On November 9, he was named a member of Joe Biden’s COVID-19 Advisory Board.
