Former World Bank chief James Wolfensohn Dies at 86

James Wolfensohn was the former president of the World Bank. James Wolfensohn died on November 25, 2020 at his home in Manhattan at the age of 86.
He was born on December 1, 1933, Sydney, Australia.
Wolfensohn was an officer in the Royal Australian Air Force and represented Australia in fencing at the 1956 Olympics. Wolfensohn, a former air-conditioning salesman, ended up graduating from Harvard Business School. After numerous stints, he became a senior executive at Salomon Brothers. Then U.S. President Bill Clinton named him the 9th president of the World Bank, in which he served from June 1995 through to May 2005. He founded his own investment banking firm in New York, Wolfensohn & Co.
James Wolfensohn’s wife Elaine died earlier on August 19, 2020. He is survived by three children.
