NXIVM Sex Cult Leader Keith Raniere Gets Maximum 120 Year Sentence

Keith Allen Raniere, the founder of a “self-help group” and sex cult called NXIVM, was hit with a 120-year maximum sentence after 15 of his branded “slaves” confront him at Brooklyn Criminal Court. NXIVM was based in Clifton Park, a suburb of Albany, New York.

Keith Raniere, aged 60, kept women on starvation diets and branded them with his initials. Raniere was convicted of sex trafficking of children, conspiracy, and conspiracy to commit forced labor in June 2019.

In addition, the heir of Seagram’s liquor fortune, Clare Bronfman (aged 41) was sentenced to nearly 6 years and 9 months in prison. Former followers of NXIVM claimed that Clare Bronfman used her wealth to try to silence NXIVM defectors.

Before founding NXIVM, Raniere created Consumers Buyline, a business venture that the New York Attorney General accused of having been a pyramid scheme.
