Trump Peace Accord in the Middle East between UAE and Israel

Posted on 08/14/2020

U.S. President Donald J. Trump helped broker a historic peace deal in the Middle East. Israel and the United Arab Emirates announced they will normalize diplomatic ties and create a new relationship. The United Arab Emirates is the first Gulf Arab country to reach a peace accord with the Jewish state. The agreement is known as the Abraham Accord. It is named for the “father of all three great faiths.” The UAE stated it would remain a strong supporter of the Palestinian people as the people seek to create an independent state.

Trump helped broker a deal in which Israel agreed to suspend its planned annexation of areas of the occupied West Bank. Israel had inked peace agreements with Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994. However, most Arab nations have not recognized Israel and had no formal diplomatic or economic relations with the country.

Palestine, Israel, and the UAE, all have sovereign wealth funds.
