What Can Global Investors and SWFs Expect From the U.S. For the Remainder of 2020

LIVE WEBINAR

Date: June 10 at 9:00 a.m. ET

In a year that was already predicted to involve one of the most contentious U.S. Presidential Elections in recent memory, the first half of 2020 has proven nothing short of historic. As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, China is asserting its control over Hong Kong and the U.S. has little choice but to respond. With the U.S. Presidential Election only a few months away, will there be an interplay between a “tough on China” stance and President Trump’s reelection bid? How could such a stance play out in Washington and Beijing and how will that affect the broader populations of the U.S., China, and other relevant players in South and Southeast Asia? May this all be different if Vice President Biden takes the day in November? And what is the likelihood of that happening?

Please join distinguished members of Akin Gump’s public law and policy practice—each with significant experience at the highest levels of the U.S. government and with differing perspectives from both sides of the aisle—to discuss these recent events, their thoughts on U.S.-China relations, broader consequences for U.S. foreign policy and the global economy, and the upcoming U.S. Presidential Election.
