Mubadala Ventures Plans to Form Healthcare Fund Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

Mubadala Ventures is the venture unit of Mubadala Investment Company. The venture unit plans to establish a healthcare fund in 2021 to focus on life sciences and digital health technology. There is increased interest in healthcare, as the novel coronavirus pandemic negatively impacts economies across the globe. Furthermore, Gulf economies are now under increased stress due to lower oil prices to diversify their economies. Mubadala Ventures is betting on companies coming up with faster viral testing, personal diagnosis programs, and stronger supply chains in the healthcare sector.
According to SWFI data, Mubadala has a track record of investing in a number of biotech companies such as Orca Biosystems, Outset Medical, VIR Biotechnology, and Innovaccer.
