Kazakhstan Government to Tap SWF to Help with Economic Fallout from Coronavirus and Low Oil Prices

Information Minister Dauren Abayev of Kazakhstan disclosed that the country will use an extra 1.825 trillion tenge this year. Kazakhstan’s main export is oil and the price of oil has fallen rapidly globally. The planned sovereign fund withdrawal is part of Kazakhstan’s US$ 10 billion economic stimulus package to deal with the economic fallout of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.
