FALLING KNIFE: Dow Plunges 2997 Points

In another rollercoaster day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed 2,997.10 points lower, or 12.9%, at 20,188.52.
U.S. stocks plummeted on March 16, 2020, having their worst day since the “Black Monday market crash of 1987”. The S&P 500 index fell off a cliff, dropping 12% to 2,386.13. For the S&P 500 index this is its lowest level since December 2018.
The S&P 500 opened more than 8% lower on the March 16th morning, immediately triggering a 15-minute trading halt launched when an index fall more than 7% from the prior session’s close.
