Retired NBA Superstar Kobe Bryant Dies in LA Area Helicopter Crash

Retired NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, aged 41, and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna died on January 26, 2020 in a deadly California helicopter crash that killed seven others. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, there were no survivors in the crash around 10 a.m. in Calabasas, Los Angeles. The crash site is near Las Virgenes Road and Willow Glen Street.
“For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement Sunday. “He was generous with the wisdom he acquired and saw it as his mission to share with future generations of players.”
Kobe Bryant was a venture capital partner in Bryant Stibel, an investor company he founded with Jeff Stibel. Bryant Stibel invested in legalzoom, ringDNA, mobile games company Scopely, Minted, Art of Sport, and The Players’ Tribune.
Kobe Bryant played for 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five NBA championships. Kobe Bryant was born in Philadelphia and drafted into the NBA immediately after graduating high school
