Amundi grew its assets under management by 31.6% from December 2016 to December 2018. Amundi is trying to augment its smart beta and exchange-traded funds business. The asset manager hired Clarisse Djabbari as head of strategy and development for exchange-traded funds, indexing and smart beta. This is a new role. Clarisse Djabbari will report to Fannie Wurtz, managing director of Amundi’s ETF and smart beta business. Amundi made gains in AUM in 2017, but 2018 proved to be a lackluster year for the manager in terms of business growth.
In the fourth quarter of 2018, Amundi’s stated net income was €125 million, a decrease of -11.5% in relation to the fourth quarter of 2017. Furthermore, Amundi’s underlying net income was €139 million, down -17.9% compared to the fourth quarter of 2017.
