The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) announced the appointment of John Pandtle in the newly formed role as Head of the U.S. of Internal Equities. Increasingly, large sovereign wealth funds are migrating management of listed equity portfolios in developed markets in-house. Armed as a CFA charterholder, Pandtle will be based out of Abu Dhabi and report to Greg Eckersley, Global Head of Internal Equities. Pandtle will be leading a team of portfolio managers and be responsible for developing strategy and overseeing the management of U.S.-focused investment portfolios.

Buyside and Sellside Experience

Relocating to the Gulf from Tampa, Florida, Pandtle comes from Eagle Asset Management, where he has worked since July 2009 as a portfolio manager with responsibility for constructing and managing portfolios, and producing research, in the financials, materials, and utilities sectors. Pandtle worked as a senior equity research analyst, before spending five years at Eagle’s parent company, Raymond James, as Senior Vice President in the firm’s Equity Research Department.

According to the press release, Mohamed Darwish Al Khoori, Executive Director, Internal Equities Department at ADIA, said: “It gives us great pleasure to welcome John as the head of our new U.S. desk. His extensive knowledge of the U.S. market, experience of managing sizeable portfolios, and his proven ability to build successful teams, make him the ideal candidate to grow and oversee our internally-managed portfolio in this all important market.”
