China Investment Corporation has announced that Chairman Peng Chun, David Solomon, Chairman of Goldman Sachs have been meeting with Chinese authorities including Yi Huiman known for his role as leader of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission’s Guo Shuqing. CIC notes: “They exchanged views on topics including global market trends, investment opportunities, cooperation on multiple fronts between CIC and Goldman Sachs, etc.”
It is also known that Chip Kaye, Warburg Pincus’s CEO, Noel Quinn of HSBC, and Standard Chartered’s Bill Winters have also been considering new Chinese investment due to similar meetings.
Representatives from Singapore’s Temasek, Canada’s insurer Manulife, and Japan’s Daiwa Securities met with Mr. Yi in separate meetings.
